About katto
Katto was founded by Josh and Thomas in 2018, and it all started with Josh’s acute anxiety disorder that was diagnosed during a terrible time in his life. In an attempt to overcome the problem, the man stop drinking, start running, doing yoga and going to therapy, but none of them had any positive impact. Someone once said that cooking helps in reducing stress and so it became a new hobby to look for new items in the kitchen. Josh needed attractive knives, smooth cutting boards, and other equipment that was not only easy on the eye but also had character and was environmentally friendly.
The concept of Katto was to produce utensils that would be cheap, long-lasting, and manufactured using high-quality resources. They wanted to work with their hands, not massive equipment, and leave as small a footprint on the earth as possible. They also wanted their products to be reasonably priced and within the reach of individuals with a turnover of less than one billion pounds per annum.
The founders think that people today do not want to have more and more stuff, but instead, they want to have fewer items that are of higher quality and are more durable, making their days and dinners more enjoyable. They want to produce these items with superior materials, with the help of human hands, and in a way that is least intrusive to the planet. They are now venturing into new product categories where they are planning to make and sell knives and other related items that can be stored in the kitchen cabinet.
